Spring Break EcoCamp

Thanks for your interest in Stanley Park Ecology Society's EcoCamps!

This spring, immerse your children in the delights of nature! Give them the chance to uncover the mysteries of the natural world, curiously explore nature, and have a blast with other children in Stanley Park!

These week-long adventure day camps for campers aged 7 to 11 will explore the wetlands, beaches, and forests of Stanley Park.

Forest Explorers March 13 - 17
Venture into the forests of Stanley Park during this week of exploration. Get to know the local trees, plants, and animals that live in our local forests. Where do birds nest? How do species work together? What lives on the forest floor? Play games and expand your knowledge under nature's canopy!

Signs of Spring March 20 - 24
Spring in Stanley Park means vibrant greens, fresh air, and an abundance of growth. We’ll hone our senses to unlock its seasonal secrets and changes. Which plants are blooming? Who has migrated back? Where are the frogs? What’s making that sound? The forest, wetlands, and beaches are a wondrous place with many exciting mysteries just waiting to be explored!

Waiver Agreement

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF RISK, AND CONSENT I have reviewed the description of the Stanley Park Ecology Society program we are signing up for and feel that I have sufficiently informed myself about the nature of the program and the activities involved.

I acknowledge that there are risks, dangers, and hazards associated with my child’s participation in the program and that Stanley Park Ecology Society (hereafter ‘SPES’) takes no responsibility for a participant getting hurt including, but not limited to: transportation; impact and collision with other participants, instructors or spectators; impact with objects or equipment used in connection with daily activities; slips, trips or falls; bites from animals including dogs; changes in the type of surface and the condition o f surfaces, including the beach, forest, wetland, intertidal zone, classroom and washrooms; adverse weather conditions; loss of balance; failure to play safely within one's own ability; theft; consumption of food and drink, whether made by professionals or by non-professionals; and negligence of other participants or staff. SPES will occasionally take pictures and/or videos of its program participants to send to parents and for use in promotional materials or publications (websites, social media, brochures, etc.). I agree to allow SPES to reproduce the likeness of my child in such promotional/advertisement materials and publications. If the program is subsidized by a grantor, you agree to allow SPES to share these same photos with the funder, for their internal and external use.

I understand the programs are based outdoors, even when it is raining, and will ensure my child will come with enough food, water, and clothing suited to be outdoors all day. In the event of bad weather, the program may be moved to an indoor location for the day. I will be notified of any location change via email.

I give permission for staff to administer first aid treatment to my child and acknowledge that I will be responsible for any medical or other charges in connection with my child’s treatment.

Participants are expected to be respectful and considerate towards other participants, SPES staff including all instructors, and external partner organization instructors. Participants are expected and required to follow the directions of all instructors, to stay in close proximity to their instructors during the program and not leave without consent and informing program instructors. If there is a breach of these rules, instructors will discuss the issue with the participant and/or their parents or guardian. In the event that there is a continuous breach of these rules, SPES may require the participant to withdraw from the remainder of the program, without reimbursement of any program fees. I confirm that I have discussed these rules and expectations with my child.

I hereby consent to my child’s participation in the program on the terms and conditions set out above by signing below.

Camp Policies

Camper Policies and Covid Policy

1. Your child will follow all reasonable instructions from the SPES staff while participating in the program.

2. Although every effort is made to send campers home with all of their belongings, SPES Day Camp is not responsible for any loss or damage.

3. SPES staff reserves the right to cancel a child’s participation in a camp session if their behaviour is deemed unmanageable or dangerous to themselves or others, in which case they will be sent home immediately (for details on behavioural management procedures, please see EcoCamp Policies included in the parent package).

4. You agree to not bring your child to camp if they have symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other respiratory disease, have been identified by public health as a close contact of a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or are otherwise advised to stay home by current public health policies.

5. Face masks are optional for staff and participants, however SPES reserves the right to ask your child to wear a mask (for example, if a child is injured and requires non-distanced care, or if a child starts showing cold or flu-like symptoms).

6. You agree to pick up your child if they are not respecting health and safety protocols outlined by the SPES educators.

7. You agree to review the full EcoCamp policy and information package that will be emailed to parents and guardians leading up to camp.

Cancellations and Refunds Policy

Cancellations made more than 14 days before the first day registered for camp will be refunded. We apologize but any cancellations we receive after the 14 days before the first day of camp will not be refunded.

Note: A $25 administrative fee will be charged to ALL cancellations

COVID Cancellation: If a cancellation is due to the contraction of, exposure to, or any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, you will receive a full refund and we will waive the administration fee. If your child attends 1 or more days of camp before this cancellation happens, the fees will be prorated. A small processing fee will be charged.
