Scaffolding of Learning

Featured Speaker: Donna Yanew

Session Description: The goal of scaffolding is to help learners gradually build their skills and knowledge to eventually understand the meaning of the outcome or perform a learning task independently. In this session, Donna will assist teachers in determining what supports students need to move their learning forward. She will lead the group in exploring various scaffolding strategies and developing effective questioning to uncover student understanding.

Speaker Biography:

Donna Yanew B.Ed, M.Ed

Donna has taught with several school districts throughout her career including Edmonton Public Schools for 25 years. She worked as a consultant leading many teachers and principals through teaching best practices, assessment, teaching online, and preparing for new curriculum. Donna has been both a keynote speaker and presenter for over 50 educational sessions and is passionate about teaching and learning.

AAC is a non-profit charitable society and as such our sessions are dependent on registration numbers. A session may be cancelled due to low registration - this would be confirmed 4 business working days prior to the session date.

Asynchronous Learning: Registered participants will gain 2-week access to the recording, presentation slides, and other session materials for their session(s). Recordings and materials are posted to a Google Classroom once each session is completed. The link to access materials will be emailed to registered participants.

Payment by credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or purchase order is required at time of registration.
No refunds will be provided.

If a participant is unable to attend a session, they will not be given access to the materials or a refund.

Should a session be cancelled, AAC will offer a credit for the registration fee to either:

register for a different AAC open session, or
make a purchase in the AAC book store, or
a refund may be available upon request.
