Welcome

I look forward to seeing you at the 2017 NAFIS Spring Conference, Uncertain Future: Impact Aid in a Trump Administration.  With a campaign platform focused on school choice and vouchers the new administration could take Impact Aid into uncharted territory. What does a Trump Administration mean for education and for your school district? Will Impact Aid – a traditionally bipartisan program – fare positively or negatively in the days to come?

Your participation in Washington, DC has never been more critical.  We must educate a new administration and a new Congress to help them understand just how important Impact Aid is to school districts and communities across this nation.  It is vital the voices of the NAFIS Family be heard on Capitol Hill at the beginning of this new era.

As to content, NAFIS Spring Conference General Sessions will feature high profile speakers and the breakout sessions will highlight current topics you can incorporate in your district when you return home.  You’ll get the latest updates on Impact Aid funding and education policy, and have the opportunity to meet in person with Department of Education staff to get questions answered on applying for and navigating the Impact Aid program.

On a lighter note, based on the positive comments from previous conference attendees, we encourage you to wear your school pride – colors, logos, and more – on Sunday at the conference. Tuesday’s closing reception will celebrate our patriotism, so wear red, white and blue, and don’t be surprised if you see George and Abe hanging around.

Now is the time to roll up your sleeves and get to work educating the new administration and Congress about the importance of Impact Aid during the NAFIS Spring Conference!

Sincerely,

Hilary Goldmann

Executive Director
