Please join us as the NAFIS Family gathers for the 2018 NAFIS Fall Conference, Facing Adversity: Stronger Together. The conference theme acknowledges recent challenges to Impact Aid and reminds us of the need for the NAFIS Family to be unified and work collaboratively to support all federally impacted school districts and the children they educate.

The Fall Conference comes at a critical time, allowing attendees to engage in important advocacy work. We will celebrate our latest successes, thanking those members of Congress who helped to increase funding for Impact Aid and fight off threats to turn Impact Aid into private school vouchers. We will also amplify our efforts to protect the program, as the Impact Aid voucher policy debate is far from over.

Coming at the end of the federal government’s fiscal year, the conference provides the opportunity to remind your representatives how important Impact Aid is to your district and students and to request they fund it appropriately. And you’ll get up-to-the-minute projections on the mid-term elections, which will impact the entire House of Representatives and one-third the Senate in a few short weeks and bring in new policymakers to educate about Impact Aid.

As always, the conference will feature high profile speakers, the latest updates on Impact Aid funding and payments, and breakout sessions on topics you can incorporate in your district when you return home. You will also have the opportunity to meet with Department of Education staff to ask questions directly to the people who review your application.

The conference offers the chance to connect with other members of the NAFIS Family and learn about the challenges they face and the solutions they’ve implemented to help all their students succeed. You’ll also be able to share your school spirit—Sunday is “School Pride Day,” and we encourage you to wear your school shirts, colors, logos, and other gear to let everyone know where you are from.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to NAFIS Staff or Board Members.
