Composting at Home 2018

This program helps Red Deer residents successfully turn their kitchen and yard waste into compost in their own yards.

It will take about 15 minutes to register. To participate in this program you must:

- Live in the city of Red Deer
- Not be successfully composting but want to learn how, and not have previously participated in this program
- Attend a 2.5 hour workshop to learn to compost
- Commit to composting until at least June 2019
- Report on your results as requested until June 2019
- Have a ground-level outdoor space under your control where you can compost

If you need more information before making the commitment please visit or call 403-314-5894.

You will choose one workshop to attend. Workshops will be held a variety of weeknights and Saturdays between March 15 and April 14 at The City's Civic Yards, located near Three Mile Bend.

NOTE: This is not the Green Cart program, where The City picks up your organic waste with your garbage. The Green Cart program launches city-wide in April 2018, and is an excellent companion to backyard composting. With the Composting at Home program you will compost suitable materials in your backyard composter and use the Green Cart for the remaining organic waste.
