2023 BC Lung Foundation AQ Workshop Registration

THEME: The Long and Winding Road

The transportation sector is a major source of air pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, affecting our health and the health of the planet. Over the past several decades, a variety of air quality management policies and initiatives have helped reduce traffic related air pollution, contributing to overall improvements in air quality in Canada. However, people living in some parts of the country may still be exposed at times to harmful air pollutants at levels that exceed established air quality standards. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that even low levels of air pollution are associated with negative health effects.

While improvements in air quality have been realized in recent years, GHG emissions have remained relatively stable in Canada and have been steadily increasing world-wide. In response to the climate crisis, there has been a world-wide push to reduce GHG emissions from all sectors, including transportation. We are seeing a transition to electric vehicles, and initiatives to promote public transportation, active transportation, and micro-mobility.

Join us on March 30, 2023 to learn more about the evolution of mobility. We will examine the drivers for change in mobility and challenges associated with greener transportation options, and explore opportunities and successes.
